The new scripted series from 'Walking Dead' exec producers Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd and Dave Alpert is planned for a 2015 premiere.

AceShowbiz - After three successful seasons, it's no wonder that AMC wants to capitalize on its hit series "The Walking Dead". The cable network has just announced a new companion series that is being developed by "Walking Dead" comics creator Robert Kirkman and executive producers Gale Anne Hurd and Dave Alpert.
Plot details are not available yet, but it is reported that the new scripted series will tell a brand-new story and feature a new cast of characters, but is still based on Kirkman's long-running comics. It is targeted for a 2015 debut.
"Building on the success of the most popular show on television for adults 18-49 is literally a no-brainer," says AMC president and GM Charlie Collier. "We look forward to working with Robert, Gale and Dave again as we develop an entirely new story and cast of characters. It's a big world and we can't wait to give fans another unforgettable view of the zombie apocalypse."
Kirkman chimes in, "After 10 years of writing the comic book series and being so close to the debut of our fourth, and in my opinion, best season of the TV series, I couldn't be more thrilled about getting the chance to create a new corner of 'The Walking Dead' universe. The opportunity to make a show that isn't tethered by the events of the comic book, and is truly a blank page, has set my creativity racing."
In other "Walking Dead" news, "Twilight" star Christian Serratos has been cast in the upcoming fourth season of the post-apocalyptic series. The actress, who played Bella's best friend Angela in the vampire movie series, lands a recurring role as Rosita Espinosa, a tough and beautiful girl who was first introduced in 53rd issue of the comic books when she crossed paths with Rick and friends at Hershel's farm.
"The Walking Dead" season 4 premieres Sunday, October 13 at 9 P.M. on AMC. "The Wire" actor Lawrence Gilliard Jr. is cast as new character Bob Stookey and David Morrissey returns as the Governor.
