The Sebastian Smythe of the FOX musical series will appear in three episodes of the CW show and a potential Flash spin-off.

AceShowbiz - The Flash is back on TV with Grant Gustin taking on the role. The "Glee" actor has nabbed the coveted part and will appear in three episodes of The CW's "Arrow". He may lead his own series if the network picks up a Flash spin-off, which will be an origin series.

Gustin's Flash a.k.a. Barry Allen will first appear in episode 8 of "Arrow" season 2, and then episode 9 and 20, which will serve as a backdoor pilot for the potential spin-off. "Arrow" executive producers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg as well as DC Entertainment's Geoff Johns wrote all three episodes with David Nutter set to direct.

Barry will be introduced as "a Central City assistant police forensic investigator who arrives in Starling to look into a series of unexplained robberies that may have a connection to a tragedy in his past. A comic book fan boy, Barry is obsessed with the Arrow unaware that working with Oliver and Felicity to solve the crime has brought him right into the dangerous world of the vigilante."

The CW president Mark Pedowitz dished on the plans to introduce Barry at the TCA summer press tour. "There's a big DC universe where super-powered characters do intersect and don't intersect," he said at the time. "But remember, it's an origin story so he may not come in with superpowers."

Gustin is best known for his role as Sebastian Smythe of The Dalton Academy Warblers on FOX's "Glee". "Arrow" lead actor Stephen Amell has congratulated him on the Flash casting, tweeting, "You should probably start stretching your hamstrings like...immediately. Congratulations!" Colton Haynes also wrote on his Twitter, "Arrow season 2 has found its Flash. Congrats, welcome aboard bud!"
