The fourth entry in the Jurassic Park movie series is called 'Jurassic World' due to be released in June 2015.

AceShowbiz - The upcoming fourth installment of "Jurassic Park" movie franchise has snagged an official title and release date. Universal Pictures announced Tuesday, September 10 that the long-gestating project would be titled "Jurassic World" and released in theaters on June 12, 2015.

Joining the sci-fi adventure flick for a stiff competition in the crowded summer 2015 will be potential blockbusters such as "Avengers: Age of Ultron" (May 1), "Man of Steel 2" (July 17), and "Ant-Man" (July 31). "Star Wars Episode 7" is due in the summer as well.

"Jurassic Park 4" had been developed over 11 years before officially announced early this year. It initially eyed a June 24 start for production and a June 13, 2014 for release, but was postponed to give filmmakers "adequate time to bring audiences the best possible version" of the movie.

The original draft penned by "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" scribes Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver reportedly didn't measure up. Director Colin Trevorrow will now shoot the 3D movie using a script he re-wrote with his "Safety Not Guaranteed" partner Derek Connolly.

The plot detail is still scarce, but Trevorrow has already confirmed that there would be a new dinosaur in the upcoming film. "We have a new one that's pretty cool. I'm not going to tell you anything about it, but...It's pretty bad ass," the director once teased in an interview.

Steven Spielberg, the director of the first two installments, will serve as the executive producer. His 1993 "Jurassic Park" grossed $914.6 million worldwide, while his 1997 "The Lost World: Jurassic Park" collected $618.6 million worldwide. The third movie helmed by Joe Johnston took in $368.7 million worldwide.

No official cast for the fourth installment has been announced. Actors Bryce Dallas Howard, David Oyelowo and Garrett Hedlund were linked to the project before the postponement, and they are reportedly still among the frontrunners.
