Sandra Bullock Says She Didn't Deserve Oscar as 'Gravity' Gets Rave Reviews

The 2009 Best Actress winner thinks she wasn't worthy of the title, saying, 'I'm going to spend the rest of my life hopefully earning it, but having a really good time in the process as well.'

AceShowbiz - Sandra Bullock's latest pic, a 3D space-set adventure called "Gravity", is raved by critics and even touted as her ticket to get nominated for the second time at the Academy Awards. But the actress who won Best Actress at the Oscars for her role in 2009's "The Blind Side" humbly says that she "didn't feel worthy" of the coveted title.

"Most people have that out-of-body experience when they win the Oscar," she said at the Toronto International Film Festival. "I had a little newborn at home. So my body was already out of itself. And I think it was the universe's way of humbling me and saying, 'You know what's important? The acid reflux vomit that's happening right now."

"I still haven't gotten around to having my moment with it yet," she added. "Maybe one day it will come. What it does do is make you realize how hard you have to work to earn it. ... I didn't feel worthy of it when I got it, so I thought, OK, I'm going to spend the rest of my life hopefully earning it, but having a really good time in the process as well."

But it was not so much fun when she filmed "Gravity," Bullock admitted, especially with her astronaut costume attached to many wires and the amount of her solo filming on a green set which was later edited with special effects to give a real outer space view. "It was lonely," she explained. "It was frustrating, painful, it was isolating."

"But how lucky am I that I got to have all those frustrations, you know, built in?" she quickly added. "[And] It was an amazing experience to be able to do as an actor but I think more importantly as a woman. It could have very easily gone to the role of a man and I appreciate that [director] Alfonso (wrote it) for a woman. It could have very easily [become] the role of a man."

After previously attending the premiere of the movie at the Venice Film Festival together with her co-star George Clooney, Bullock was solo this time around since Clooney was on the other side of Canada shooting his upcoming film "Tomorrowland (2014)" in Vancouver.

But the mother of one managed to dish on to reporters about her son Louis bonding with the "Ocean's Thirteen" actor and his friend Rande Gerber. "The cute little anecdote is that he went to me and said, 'Where's George and Rande?' I said, 'I don't know!' And he said, 'I need them.' So we went and found them, and they had man time."

"And I sort of stood off to the side and waited for them to finish. Then I was allowed to take him back," she recalled. "My son thinks he's a very cool dude. If there's a choice between me [and] George and Alfonso [Cuaron], my son will leave me to be with George and these guys. He's a boy's boy, so he has to go talk to the men."
