The 'American Idol' season 4 champion debuted the fresh 'SNF' theme song during the new season's kick-off match.

AceShowbiz - The evening of September 8 was eagerly awaited by National Football League fans not just for the new season's kick-off match between the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants but also for the scheduled debut of Carrie Underwood's rendition of "Waiting All Day for Sunday Night", NBC's "Sunday Night Football" opening theme. The 30-year-old country music superstar is the "SNF" theme's new singer, replacing Faith Hill who served as the show's opening voice for the past six years.

The almost two-minute clip shows the Grammy Award winner performing the theme song with her powerful vocals in front of a packed stadium, interspersed with images of the league's top players such as Andrew Luck, Clay Matthews III, Eli Manning and Tony Romo. Underwood also rocks an ensemble of a sleeveless, sequined blue top and denim shorts with a pair of boots, flaunting her sexy legs in the Verizon logo placement-studded video.

The "American Idol" season three winner puts a rock spin on her rendition of "Waiting All Day for Sunday Night", making it a more edgy version as compared to Hill's classic delivery. Before Hill sang the reworking of Joan Jett's "I Hate Myself for Loving You", pop-rocker Pink originally sang the opening theme for only one season.

It may be Underwood's "SNF" debut, but she's not a stranger to the NFL, having performed at the Super Bowl back in 2010 when she was tapped to sing the national anthem.
