The John Krokidas movie about the Beat Generation also stars Dane DeHaan, Ben Foster, Michael C. Hall and Elizabeth Olsen.

AceShowbiz - Poetry and murder are offered in "Kill Your Darlings", the Daniel Radcliffe starrer which has dropped its first trailer via Yahoo! Movies. In the Sony Pictures Classics flick from John Krokidas, the actor leaves his "Harry Potter" persona behind as he takes on the role of young Allen Ginsberg, one of key members of a literary crew known as the Beat Generation.

Based on true story, the Sundance hit tells an untold story of murder after the "Howl" writer met a man named Lucien Carr. The situation brought together Ginsberg, who was also a gay activist, Jack Kerouac and William Burroughs at Columbia University in 1944, providing the spark that led to the birth of an entire generation.

Dane DeHaan portrays Carr, who murdered his long-time admirer David Kammerer (Michael C. Hall) at the age of 19 and is seen in the video being romantically involved with Ginsberg. Jack Huston and Ben Foster land roles as Kerouac and Burroughs respectively. Indie darling Elizabeth Olsen also supports the pic.

For his feature-length debut, Krokidas writes the script with Austin Bunn. After being screened at the Toronto Film Festival, "Kill Your Darlings" will arrive in U.S. theaters on October 18.
