A24 Films launches the 'Consider This Sh**t' campaign to ask the Academy to consider Franco for a Best Supporting Actor nomination for his portrayal of drug dealer Alien.

AceShowbiz - A creative Oscar campaign has been launched by A24 Films. The distributor behind the sleeper hit "Spring Breakers" begs the members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to consider James Franco for a Best Supporting Actor nomination for his role in the Harmony Korine flick as the cornrow-sporting drug dealer Alien.

The advertisement features Franco holding two Oscar statuettes with a text that reads, "Consider This S**t", referring to Alien's monologue in which he shows off all his possessions to his friends and repeatedly says, "Look at this sh**t." A review by critic Scott Foundas is also added to make it more convincing.

"It's a consistent astonishment. Franco and Korine are so suited to collaboration - two prankster artists whose straight-faced self-parody can skirt the sublime," the quote says. "You leave the theater with Aliens' growling mantra, 'spring break forevah,' echoing in your head."

A24 Films reveals to Indie Wire that the campaign material "is definitely just the beginning," suggesting that there will be more to come.

"James Franco has created a character so indelible it deserves recognition. We are excited to be able to support it with a campaign and know the impact of Alien will last far past this awards season," an A24 spokesperson tells The Hollywood Reporter, which unveils the ad.

The $7 million budgeted movie, released March 22, was a hit at the box office with a worldwide total of $31 million. Ashley Benson, Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens also starred in it.
