The Weinstein Co. might pick up 's "". Deadline learns that the studio, headed by Harvey Weinstein, enters talks to nab the U.S. rights to the movie, directed by John Curran. The deal is being made after the pic threw its world premiere on Thursday, August 29 at the Venice Film Festival, where it is up to compete.

During the promotional event at the Palazzo del Cinema in Italy, Wasikowska hit the red carpet alongside director John Curran and writer Robyn Davidson whom her character in the flick is based on. The 23-year-old actress looked stunning in a black halter gown with a lace bodice and mermaid hem.

Before heading to the Toronto fest, the Marion Nelson-written film will be screened at Telluride, where it hosts the U.S. premiere of the adaptation of the best-selling memoir.
