The 'Chicago' actor will star as a hedonistic philanthropist in the Andrew Renzi movie.

AceShowbiz - Richard Gere will reunite with the "Arbitrage" producer Treehouse Pictures in an indie film. The Golden Globe-winning actor, who was paired up with Julia Roberts in "Pretty Woman" and "Runaway Bride", is set to star in "Franny", which is directed and penned by Andrew Renzi.
Gere is cast as a hedonistic philanthropist who ingratiates himself into the lives of a newlywed couple in order to re-create the life he once had. Thomas B. Fore and Jason Michael Berman are on board to produce alongside Jay Schuminsky, with Shelley Browning, Ruth Mutch, John Friedberg and Michael Diamond executive producing.
Production on the flick, co-financed by TideRock Media, is slated to begin in October, with QED launching international sales at the Toronto International Film Festival. No other information is available as of this writing.
Becoming a major star in the 1980s with "American Gigolo", Gere recently starred in the comedy omnibus film "Movie 43", which features sixteen different storylines. Though many A-list actors, including Hugh Jackman, Kate Winslet and Kristen Bell, lent their star power to it, the movie received negative reviews from critics.
Gere's next film is "Henry & Me", a pic about a young New York Yankees fan named Jack who is overcoming cancer. Athlete Alex Rodriguez, who also has a voice role in it, might be cut following his doping scandal.
