'Elementary' Season 2 Photos Give First Look at Rhys Ifans as Mycroft Holmes

Other images from the season 2 premiere set in London show Sean Pertwee as Sherlock's former mentor, Gareth Lestrade.

Sneak peeks to the upcoming season 2 of "" have been obtained in a form of photos. Making their way out online, some of the pictures give first look at as Sherlock's brother Mycroft Holmes and Sean Pertwee as Sherlock's former mentor, Gareth Lestrade.

In the season opener titled "Step Nine" set to air Thursday, September 26, Holmes and Watson travel to London to help track down an old mentor and investigate an unsolved mystery. Meanwhile, Mycroft Holmes, Sherlock's estranged brother, reunites with Sherlock and reveals some secrets of his own.

Series creator Robert Dohert gushed about the said outing, "We couldn't be more excited to have this opportunity to see Sherlock's old stomping grounds and take a closer look at a life that, until now, we've only been able to glimpse through the lens of his recovery."

He went on dishing what the trip meant to Watson, "By meeting old friends and revisiting prior cases, Watson will gain even more insight into Holmes. She'll have to keep up with a Sherlock who is both more comfortable in his surroundings and even bolder in testing the limits of those around him."

and reprise their roles as Sherlock and Watson respectively.
