The non-profit organization accuses the network of 'marketing sexually charged messages to young children using former child stars and condom commercials.'

AceShowbiz - It's time for The Parents Television Council to voice their opinion about performances at this year's MTV Video Music Awards. The non-profit group has released a statement, in which they complained about the program's TV-14 rating, while it aired R-rated contents.

"MTV has once again succeeded in marketing sexually charged messages to young children using former child stars and condom commercials -while falsely rating this program as appropriate for kids as young as 14," PTC spokesperson Dan Isett said in a statement. "This is unacceptable."

The "former child stars" clearly referred to Miley Cyrus, whose raunchy performance also drew criticism from fellow celebs. However, Cyrus wasn't the only performer who was slammed by the organization, as it also protested Lady GaGa who donned bikini when opening the annual event with her new single "Applause".

"This much is absolutely clear: MTV marketed adults-only material to children while falsely manipulating the content rating to make parents think the content was safe for their children," Isett continued.

He added, "MTV continues to sexually exploit young women by promoting acts that incorporate 'twerking' in a nude-colored bikini. How is this image of former child star Miley Cyrus appropriate for 14-year-olds? How is it appropriate for children to watch Lady Gaga strip down to a bikini in the opening act?"

Isset went on slamming a condom commercial and promo videos for some R-rated films, which also aired during the show, writing, "How is it appropriate for 14-year-olds to see a condom commercial and a promo for an R-rated movie during the first commercial break?"

The PTC also used the statement to plug the Television Consumer Freedom Act, a bill that would allow cable subscribers to pick the networks they want and opt out of those they don't.
