Helgenberger's Catherine Willows will help the team solve a case that has haunted the team for 14 years in the landmark episode set to air October 23.

AceShowbiz - Marg Helgenberger is back to "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" to help celebrate a milestone in the show's history, CBS has announced. The actress will reprise her role as Catherine Willows for its 300th episode set to air October 23. "Very excited to see my pals @CSI_CBS for the 300th!" she tweeted after news of her return broke.

During the episode, Catherine helps solve a cold case that has haunted the team for 14 years. They investigate a homicide in the home of a reclusive former casino mogul who was a suspect in a similar crime in 2000. The CSI team recalls who they were and where they were in order to solve the cold case.

Helgenberger, one of the original cast members on the show, exited the long-running procedural series midway through season 12. In her last episode, Catherine decided to resign from the CSI and take an offer to work with the FBI.

She said of her reason to depart the show at the time, "I instinctively felt it was time to end that chapter of my career... I don't have the energy at 53 that I did when I started this show at 41. In that 12-year span, there were lots of changes in my life."

Helgenberger has now landed a starring role on CBS' upcoming series "Intelligence", which also stars "Lost" alum Josh Holloway.

"CSI" will return with its 14th season on Wednesday, September 25 at 10 P.M.
