Tom Hanks' 'Captain Phillips' and Spike Jonze's 'Her' are chosen as the opener and the closing film respectively at the 51th festival, which runs from September 27 - October 13.

AceShowbiz - The 2013 New York Film Festival has announced its full line-up on its official website. Among titles that have already been a hit at several other prestigious festivals, Paul Greengrass' "Captain Phillips", a Tom Hanks starrer based on true story of a 2009 cargo ship hijacking, gets the honor to kick off the event, which runs from September 27 - October 13.

Three pics opening to rave reviews at Cannes are also selected by the Film Society of Lincoln Center. The aforementioned movies include Palme d'Or winner "Blue Is the Warmest Color", "All Is Lost" with Robert Redford as the only cast member and Alexander Payne's directorial effort, "Nebraska".

"Inside Llewyn Davis" from the Coen brothers will be screened along with Richard Curtis' romantic comedy "About Time". Ben Stiller's much-awaited film, "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty", is included in the list, with Spike Jonze's "Her" set to close the annual festival.

"I love the level of diversity in the main slate selections, which includes documentaries, biographies, comedies, adventures, epics, chamber pieces, elegies, explorations and affirmations. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did," says Director of Programming Kent Jones in a statement.
