'Castle' Grabs Top Honor in TV Category at 2013 Imagen Awards

The ABC crime drama series wins Best Primetime Television Program and lead cast member Jon Huertas to grab Best Actor/Television title.

AceShowbiz - "Castle" bagged two top prizes at the Image Awards honoring the Latinos in television, film and internet culture. It won Best Primetime TV Program, pushing aside such contenders as ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" and "Private Practice"; NBC's "Chicago Fire"; TNT's "Dallas"; and ABC Family's "Switched at Birth".

A second award for the ABC crime drama series came from one of its main cast, Jon Huertas. The actor portrays NYPD Detective Javier "Javi"/"Espo" Esposito who is always with a sardonic comment to keep Beckett on her toes and enjoys the way Castle riles her. He took home the title of Best Actor/Television.

The Best Actress title went to Monica Raymund of "Chicago Fire". Meanwhile, Carlos Gomez ("The Glades") grabbed Best Supporting Actor/Television and Constance Marie ("Switched at Birth") got Best Supporting Actress/Television. Best National Informational Program was awarded to Oprah Winfrey's show.

The winners selected by a panel of entertainment industry executives and Latino community leaders were announced Friday, August 16 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. Journalist Elizabeth Espinosa hosted the event. Nominees like Aubrey Plaza and Bella Thorne were among the attendants.

Christy Walton, the executive producer of "Bless Me, Ultima" which won big in movie categories, received President's Award. Writer/producer Jesus Salvador Trevino was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award and writing, while directing brothers Michael and Gerald Cuesta got the Norman Lear Writing Award.

  • Best Web Series, Drama: "Caribe Road"
  • Best Web Series, Comedy: "Oh Noah!"
  • Best Web Series, Reality or Informational: "Sin Verguenza"
