JT joins Robin Thicke, Miley Cyrus, Lady GaGa, Katy Perry and Kanye West in the line-up of the August 25 show.

AceShowbiz - Being this year's leading MTV Video Music Awards nominee with six nods, it was quite expected that Justin Timberlake would be performing during the August 25 ceremony at Brooklyn's Barclays Center. With the confirmation of his participation, he becomes the latest A-list music act to be added to the line-up that was first occupied by Kanye West, Lady GaGa, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke.

His forthcoming appearance in the awards show this year will be particularly special as he is set to be presented with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award in recognition of his achievements in music video, his previously earned 14 Moonmen trophies from the VMAs being a testament to that. He follows in the footsteps of past winners as Britney Spears, Madonna and of course, the King of Pop himself who received it when it was still simply the Vanguard Award.

Timberlake has a good chance of adding more Moonmen to his collection with the six nominations he got this year, which include the coveted Video of the Year award nod for his "Mirrors" clip which is also vying for the Best Male Video, Best Pop Video and Best Editing awards. His comeback hit "Suit & Tie" earned him his two other nominations for Best Collaboration and Best Direction.

The timing of his MTV VMAs performance and possible win could not have come at a more opportune time, as JT is set to release his "The 20/20 Experience" sequel the following month and he could very well take advantage of the grand stage to perform a new single from his forthcoming new album.
