The retired NBA coach scolds the rapper for name-dropping him, offers him some advice in the process.

AceShowbiz - After shaking up the hip-hop world with his verse on Big Sean's new track "Control", Kendrick Lamar now gets a slap on the wrist from retired NBA coach Phil Jackson for name-dropping him. But apart from reprimanding the young MC, the 67-year-old pro-basketball champion coach was his usual magnanimous self and even offered some piece of valuable advice to the self-possessed artist.
In reaction to the lyrics, "If Phil Jackson came back, still no coachin' me/ I'm uncoachable, I'm unsociable," Jackson tweeted, "@kendricklamar it's okay to be cocky and sure, but we all need somebody to lean on. Let's just call it mentoring." And if there's anyone who can hold his own in terms of mentoring it's Jackson, who has coached the likes of such basketball greats as Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'neal and their respective teams en route to winning their NBA championships.
Also taking a stab at Lamar's ego is rap mogul P. Diddy, but unlike Jackson, the rapper/entrepreneur took a less serious but quite sarcastic approach. Diddy mocked Lamar on his Instagram, posting an image of himself with Jay-Z laughing, captioned with, "and then Kendrick said 'I'm the King of New York'."
The diss was aimed toward Lamar's lyric where he claims he's "the king of New York/ King of the coast, one hand, I juggle both" despite having been raised in Compton, California. Meanwhile, Diddy and Jay-Z's mockery may have stemmed from the fact that both of them are from New York and certified A-list superstars in the music industry.
