Feature writer Seth Grahame-Smith and producer Greg Berlanti team up to develop a new prison break drama set in the late 21st century, 'Paradise'.

AceShowbiz - NBC nabs a new prison drama from novelist/feature writer Seth Grahame-Smith and producer Greg Berlanti with a put-pilot commitment. Titled "Paradise", the project's premise sounds like a futuristic spin on FOX's hit and critically-acclaimed series "Prison Break".

Penned by Grahame-Smith, the potential new series "is set in the late 21st century in the city of Las Vegas which is now the world's largest maximum-security prison, known as Paradise," Deadline reports. It centers on Matthew Turner, M.D., a new inmate who's wrongly convicted of a murder. Turner, desperate to get back to his family and prove his innocence, gains his strength to try to escape from the facility.

Berlanti and Melissa Kellner Berman from Berlanti Prods., Grahame-Smith as well as David Katzenberg will executive produce the pilot.

Berlanti is known for writing and executive producing such shows as "Dawson's Creek", "Brothers & Sisters" and "Arrow". Grahame-Smith, meanwhile, has had his book "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" adapted into a movie by director Timur Bekmambetov. His 2009's bestselling novel "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" is also going to get a big-screen treatment with Panorama set to produce and finance the project.
