After their tearful goodbye, Carrie testifies in front of the senate and Brody is on the run and wounded.

AceShowbiz - The first trailer for "Homeland" season 3 has been unleashed, teasing the aftermath of Carrie and Brody's tearful farewell. The video is full of emotional scenes as everybody is crying and sad over the attack which Brody was framed for and led to his flight from the U.S.

Carrie is seen wearing a hospital garb and in another scene she and Saul are testifying in front of the senate. Later toward the end of the video, she looks distraught as Saul tells her, "I'm so sorry."

Brody, meanwhile, shaves his head and is wounded while on the run. His daughter Dana tries to overcome the pain by flipping through old photos of her family, taking a selfie picture and trying out her father's prayer mat.

"One of the themes of season three is the cost that being an intelligence officer exacts on the people who are in that career," says executive producer Alex Gansa. "And Saul and Carrie are obviously the prime examples of that. As a result of the attack last year, the CIA itself is on trial: That agency couldn't even protect itself; how should it be expected to protect the country? Saul is confronted with that very question in the first episode."

At the TCA summer press tour, Gansa confirmed that Brody wouldn't be featured in the first two episodes. "The decision to not have Brody in the first two episodes was just a function of storyline," he claimed. As for Carrie's state, Claire Danes revealed, "Carrie's been in isolation for a good chunk of this season."

The new season of the drama thriller series will premiere Sunday, September 29 at 9 P.M. on Showtime.
