AceShowbiz - Another take on L. Frank Baum's "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" is in the works. CBS is currently developing a medical drama based in New York City and inspired by the characters and themes from the classic children's novel.
"Ghost Whisperer" writer Emily Fox will pen the script and executive produce the show along with "Elementary" executive producers Carl Beverly and Sarah Timberman. No other details are available as of this moment.
Just a few weeks ago, it was reported that Syfy had signed Timur Bekmambetov to reimagine "Wizard of Oz". The project, called "Warriors of Oz", will feature a warrior from present day Earth transported to a post-apocalyptic future Oz. There, he must team up with three other warriors, Heartless, Brainless, and Coward, in order to defeat the evil Wizard who has enslaved the land.
The latest big-screen adaptation of the popular tale is titled "Oz: The Great and Powerful" from director Sam Raimi. The movie starring James Franco, Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz and Michelle Williams has become a global success on box office, raking in $491.9 million worldwide so far.
