'Monuments Men' First Trailer: Matt Damon and George Clooney Against Adolf Hitler
Movie

Damon and Clooney are parts of a special force called 'The Monuments Men' who risk their lives to protect finest art treasures from Nazis.

AceShowbiz - First trailer for "The Monuments Men" has made its way out online. Set during World War II, the drama stars George Clooney as one of "8 unlikely heroes who will save history." What kind of history these men are tasked to save and from whom the history is protected are later revealed through the promo video.

The ensemble of heroes consisting of art historians and museum curators are apparently in a race against time to rescue artistic masterpieces from Nazi thieves and return them to their rightful owners. "If you destroy an entire generation of people's culture, it's as if they never existed. That's what Hitler wants. And that's the one thing we can't allow," Clooney says.

In order to achieve their goal, the men get to do some basic military training, and this is what makes the drama even more interesting and funny at the same time. "So we get to shoot some Nazis?" Bob Balaban asks in disbelief while John Goodman says, "I've never shot anyone before."

"The Monuments Men" is co-written, produced and directed by George Clooney, who directed "The Ides of March" prior to the latest one. It is based on Robert M. Edsel's book "The Monuments Men: Allied Heroes, Nazi Thieves and the Greatest Treasure Hunt in History".

The film also stars Matt Damon, Bill Murray, Hugh Bonneville and Cate Blanchett. It is due out December 18 in the U.S.
