Chaka Khan 'Applauds' Lindsay Lohan in a Supportive Message

Khan says in a statement that she applauds 'commendable' Lohan for doing 'what is necessary to better' herself and addresses her use of prescription medications.

AceShowbiz - Chaka Khan has sent a supportive message to Lindsay Lohan following the "Mean Girls" actress' release from Cliffside rehab center in Malibu. In a statement which was posted on her official site, the veteran singer called Lohan "commendable." She also discussed prescription drug abuse, which she called "a silent killer."

"To choose to do what is necessary to better one's self is commendable. I applaud Lindsay Lohan for doing the work," the "It's Not Over" hitmaker said. The singer described her junior as "a lovely young lady" and she said that she would keep praying "for her well-being."

"The Canyons" actress, who appeared to be thankful with Khan's message, reached out to the 60-year-old singer via Twitter. "Sending you love and hugs! Xo," she wrote, to which Khan replied, " 'Ain't Nobody' gonna tear out love apart....I love you more sweetie!"

In the statement, Khan also said, "The battle of addiction is a serious and long process, which is why I chose to address my use of prescription medications - which came about as a result of the knee surgery I had a few years ago." She adds, "When and if necessary, I will seek alternative methods and traditional treatment to stay ahead of any potential problem."

Khan additionally explains that prescription medication can pose danger to people "because these medications are legal, their abuse is often unknown." The Grammy-winning singer warns people that addiction to prescription drugs is a "silent killer."
