AceShowbiz - Country singer Randy Travis has been discharged from The Heart Hospital at Baylor Plano, Texas, after being treated for heart issue and stroke. According to his publicist, Travis is currently admitted to an unspecified physical therapy facility to help him recover.

"Thanks to all the fans and friends for your continued prayers and support as Randy continues on the road to recovery," Travis' fiancee Mary Davis said in a statement on Wednesday, July 31, as quoted by CNN.

The "Forever and Ever, Amen" singer was rushed to hospital on July 7. According to his doctors, he suffered from idiopathic cardiomyopathy, which is scarring on his heart muscle. The condition weakened his heart, so it could not pump blood normally without the help of medical devices or medication.

The 54-year-old singer, however, suffered from stroke during treatment and underwent surgery on July 10, to relieve pressure on his brain. His condition got better after the brain surgery. A few days later, Travis' doctors and his fiancee announced that the singer was awake and able to respond to people's voices.

Travis' family history of cardiomyopathy apparently contributed to his condition. "[His mother] passed away at an early age with her heart, so it is like these boys are following right in their footsteps," Travis' sister-in-law Teresa Trawick told PEOPLE.
