AceShowbiz - It has been confirmed that "Applause" will be the lead single off Lady GaGa's upcoming "ARTPOP" album. The 27-year-old singer has also unveiled the official artwork for the highly-anticipated new single via Women's Wear Daily.

The single's cover features a close-up image of GaGa looking like a pierrot in colorful make-up and a black headwrap. The image was shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, the same duo behind GaGa's photos for the newest issue of V Magazine.

GaGa has told fans that they can now pre-order "ARTPOP" on August 19, the same day the album's first single goes on sale. "Due to public anticipation, ITUNES will now offer a pre-order for ARTPOP album/app on AUG 19, the same day you can purchase my new single 'Applause'," she tweeted on Sunday, July 28.

GaGa is set to perform the new single at MTV Video Music Awards, which will be held on August 25 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. It will mark her first live performance after undergoing a hip surgery last February.

"ARTPOP", GaGa's third studio album that follows up 2011's "Born This Way", will drop on November 11 via Interscope Records.
