First Look at Julia Ormond as One of the 'Witches of East End'
TV

The new drama based on Melissa de la Cruz's novel will premiere Sunday, October 6 on Lifetime.

AceShowbiz - "Witches of East End" is coming on Lifetime this fall. The network is set to premiere the new ten-episode series on Sunday, October 6 at 10 P.M. ET/PT. The drama stars Julia Ormond, Jenna Dewan and Rachel Boston.

To tease viewers, Lifetime has released a new photo from the show via Entertainment Weekly. It features Ormond as Joanna Beauchamp, the matriarch of a witch family, as she gives an intense look to something unseen.

Based on Melissa de la Cruz's novel of the same name, the series centers on the adventures of Joanna and her two adult daughters, Freya (Dewan) and Ingrid (Boston), both of whom unknowingly are their family's next generation of witches.

They lead seemingly quiet, uneventful modern day lives in Long Island's secluded seaside town of North Hampton for years. When one of the daughters becomes engaged to a young, wealthy newcomer, a series of events forces her mother to admit to her daughters they are, in fact, powerful and immortal witches.

Asked about why the title is so similar to another witch story, "The Witches of Eastwick", which has been adapted into a movie and three TV pilots, executive producer Maggie Friedman said they simply used the novel's title and didn't want to change it. He went on assuring, "It's very different from 'Eastwick', and it has a loyal fan base of people who love it on its own."
