Sarah Gadon Drops 'Amazing Spider-Man 2' Mystery Role Hint
Movie

The Elise Shifrin depicter in 'Cosmopolis' reveals she plays 'an artificial intelligence officer' in the Marc Webb film.

AceShowbiz - Sarah Gadon gives a small hint at what role she has landed in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2". The Canadian actress previously was linked to the Mary Jane role, which eventually will not be introduced in the upcoming sequel following Marc Webb's creative decision. However, she quickly denied the rumor, saying that she was in for another interesting role.

Now, Gadon kindly shares the detail to Toronto Life. "My character is an artificial intelligence officer," says the 26-year-old beauty, who starred opposite "Twilight" heartthrob Robert Pattinson and her "Amazing Spider-Man 2" co-star Paul Giamatti in "Cosmopolis". She continues saying, "She represents the convergence of humanity and technology - it's very Cronenberg."

The name Gadon mentions likely refers to David Cronenberg and Brandon Cronenberg. The dad and son are known for making movies that have technology elements and bodily elements. The former directed her in "Cosmopolis" and "A Dangerous Method", while the latter teamed up with her in "Antiviral".

Confirmation of Gadon's character is later offered by Webb himself. To ET Canada, he says, "Sarah makes a number of appearances in the film, in a Hal 9000 way," referring to the artificial intelligence character which villainized "2001: A Space Odyssey".

Besides Gadon, roles for Felicity Jones and Colm Feore have not been revealed yet. Webb tells Total Film that it's all part of his masterplan. "I intentionally conceal these things because I want people to be engaged and surprised when they see the film and experience it for the first time ... so you'll forgive me being coy," he grins as he speaks.

"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" will be released in May 2014.
