The 'Malcolm X' helmer launches $1.25 Million campaign for a film about people's addiction to blood.

AceShowbiz - Another famous Hollywood name turns to Kickstarter to fund his next project. Following in the footsteps of Rob Thomas and Zach Braff who have successfully raised money for "Veronica Mars" movie and "Wish I Was Here" respectively, Spike Lee has just launched a $1.25 million campaign for a currently untitled film about people's addiction to blood. As of this writing, he has collected $28,555.

"The only way to ensure as an independent filmmaker that your vision is on the screen is when you bring the money to the table," says Lee in the video, explaining why such an established director like him needs to crowdsource for his next movie. "Filmmaking is what I do, filmmaking is what I love. And, you guys, help me keep it going because this is a mother f***ing tough business."

In the note on his Kickstarter page, Lee gives a few details of the film. Three best words to describe the yet-unnamed pic are "funny, sexy and bloody." Lee, who serves behind the lens for the upcoming remake of "Oldboy", adds that "it's not 'Blacula'."

Fans can help finance the project starting from $5 to $10,000. Each level of contributions will have its own special reward, including dinner and a New York Knicks game with Lee as the biggest reward.

"As I stated in the Video, I promise on my Mother's Grave and Right Hand to the Almighty - every Red Cent, every Wooden Nickel, every Dollar will go up on the Screen and not into my pocket," Lee states. "I'm not taking a Fee, your generous contributions will get this Film made."
