Medical examiner finds 'high levels of the opiates morphine and hydrocodone' in Doink the Clown's system, adding that heart condition contributed to his death.

The cause of death of former WWE star Doink the Clown, whose real name is Matthew Wade Osborne, has been revealed. According to officials in Collin County, Texas, the former wrestler passed away because of "a toxic overdose of morphine and hydrocodone."

TMZ reported that his autopsy results showed "high levels of the opiates morphine and hydrocodone" in his body. "I am of the opinion that [Osborne], a 55 year old white man, died as a result of toxic effects of opiates," a medical examiner said. The expert also said that Osborne's heart condition was a "significant and contributory factor" in his death.

Osborne was found lifeless in his girlfriend's apartment in Texas on Friday morning, June 28. WWE offered condolences in a statement following Osborne's passing. "WWE is saddened by the news of Osborne's passing. Our deepest condolences go out to Osborne's family, friends and fans," the statement read.

Osborne was mostly remembered for his clown costume, completed with painted face and bright green wig. After leaving WWE in 1993, the wrestler competed in independent tournaments. Before his passing, he spent his days giving autographs to fans and attending wrestling conventions.
