July 19, 2013 (4:20 am) GMT
The Debra depicter gets emotional when telling fans, 'You deserve good work. So it can't be wrap until we all here together,' as the show has completed filming of the last episode.

It was a huge yet sentimental panel at San Diego Comic-Con when "" fans invaded Hall H for a farewell panel with the show's cast and crew. The somber mood started on as soon as a goodye video played on the giant screen, featuring old scenes and thank you messages from the actors.

"Everything is a series of lasts. I didn't imagine how many people (got) on the Dexter train," said in the video, while said the show "made my life." , who played the Trinity Killer starting in season 4, wasn't present at the panel but told fans via video, "I wish I could be with you but as you all know, I'm dead. Not a day goes by that someone doesn't recognize me as a psychopath. I have you (fans) to thank for that."

The panelists revealed that "Dexter" already wrapped up the filming last week, but Hall claimed, "There's some unconscious part of us that hasn't recognized it yet." Executive producer Sara Colleton added, "I don't think everyone has processed it yet. I don't think it's hit any of us that it is over."

Holding back tears, Carpenter bid farewell to fans, "The most authentic thing about this show is our relationship to you. You deserve good work. So it can't be wrap until we all here together. It's a wrap with you all now." Hall chimed in, "Just as you all waited in line and are here for us, we have been here for you and we are here because of you."

, who reprises her role as Hannah McKay in season 8, spilled the beans that her character returns to get "revenge" on Dexter over the death of her murderous former lover.

How the show would end was not shared at the panel, but Carpenter did share her wish to have her character, Debra, die. "As an actor, it's because I love her. It's like Dexter treats his victims. I want her to go to the bottom of abyss to be where all her victims lie," she explained.

"Dexter" series finale will air September 22 on Showtime. The final season will be released on DVD November 5.
