AceShowbiz - Justin Timberlake and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis lead this year's MTV Video Music Awards with six nominations each, MTV announces. The two acts are among the artists who will be hoping to win during the awards ceremony that will take place on August 25 at Barclay's Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Timberlake is basically vying under the merits of "Suit & Tie" and "Mirrors", with the former earning him the Best Collaboration and Best Direction nods, but the latter getting him majority of his nominations. "Mirrors" puts JT in the running for the coveted Video of the Year award, along with Best Male Video, Best Pop Video and Best Editing.
JT and other top nomination getter Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are pitted against three other nominees in three categories, with the funky pair's "Thrift Shop" featuring Wanz also gunning for the Video of the Year and "Can't Hold Us" featuring Ray Dalton up for Best Direction and Best Editing as well.
"Can't Hold Us", like "Mirrors" for JT, gets the rap duo most of their nominations by getting two more nods under the Best Hip Hop Video and Best Cinematography categories, while their video for "Same Love" is nominated for Best Video with a Social Message.
Another top nominee in this year's MTV VMA is Bruno Mars with four nods, his "Locked Out of Heaven" clip going against JT's "Mirrors" in the Video of the Year, Best Male Video and Best Pop video categories, and "Treasure" retro visuals earning him a Best Choreography nod.
With three nominations each are Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" featuring Pharrell Williams and T.I., Miley Cyrus' "We Can't Stop", Pink's "Just Give Me a Reason" featuring Nate Ruess and 30 Seconds to Mars' "Up in the Air".
