AceShowbiz - Ben Affleck may add another work commitment before his next directing gig, "Live by Night". Deadline learns that the on-screen love of Liv Tyler in Michael Bay's "Armageddon" is in talks to take on the leading role in 20th Century Fox's "Gone Girl", a project that has been developed since January.
Affleck is expected to play a husband whose wife disappears right on the day of their fifth anniversary, and all roads point to him as the killer. The film, based on Gillian Flynn's bestseller of the same name, will be directed by "The Social Network" helmer David Fincher, who is also tapped to work on the script alongside author Flynn.
The Wrap adds interesting tidbits regarding the project. Sources close to the production tell the site that Natalie Portman, Charlize Theron and Emily Blunt are all eyed for the female lead. It is still unknown whether the casting report is true or not.
Reese Witherspoon is committed to the project only as a producer, working alongside Bruna Papandrea and Leslie Dixon. The production is set to start this fall.
Affleck will next be seen in "Runner, Runner", in which he stars opposite Justin Timberlake.
