Johnny Depp in Talks to Be an Art Dealer in 'Mortdecai'
Movie

If eventually on board, Depp will be reunited with his 'Secret Window' director David Koepp.

AceShowbiz - Johnny Depp will likely add another work commitment to his already packed schedule. According to The Wrap, the Jack Sparrow depicter in Disney's "Pirates of Caribbean" film series is "nearing a deal" to headline and produce "Mortdecai", the feature adaptation of Kyril Bonfiglioli's comedic crime novel "The Great Mortdecai Moustache Mystery".

Depp is expected to take on the role of Charlie Mortdecai, a wealthy art dealer and part-time rogue who often gets himself caught up in strange cases of crime and espionage. If the Oscar nominee agrees to jump aboard, the film will stage a reunion between him and helmer David Koepp, who directed Depp in "Secret Window".

Koepp will team up with scribe Eric Aronson, who penned Lance Bass' "On the Line". Andrew Lazar of Mad Chance and Christi Dembrowski are tapped to produce the movie alongside Depp. Erik Feig, Michael Paseornek, Gillian Bohrer and James Myers will oversee the production for Lionsgate. No start date has been set yet.

Depp can now be seen in Disney's "The Lone Ranger", in which he plays Indian warrior Tonto. He is currently filming "Transcendence" for director Wally Pfister.
