'The Canyons' First Official Trailer Sees Lindsay Lohan Making a Sex Tape
Movie

The trailer for Paul Schrader's thriller drama also features an appearance from James Deen and Nolan Gerard Funk.

AceShowbiz - After several teaser videos in the past, "The Canyons" now officially unleashes its first trailer. The low-budget film, which got picked up by IFC Films last February, is headlined by troubled actress Lindsay Lohan, the one who was notoriously difficult to work with on the set.

The video opens with Lohan's monolog about movies, which apparently are not her "thing" anymore. The "Freaky Friday" star, who takes on the role of Tara in the film, is later mostly featured in steamy scenes with James Deen, whose character Christian is described as a "manipulative trust-fund kid with dreams of making a movie."

Penned by Bret Easton Ellis, "The Canyons" is a contemporary L.A. noir about the dangers of sexual obsession and ambition, both personally and professionally, among a group of young people in their 20's and how one chance meeting connected to the past unravels all of their lives, resulting in deceit, paranoia, cruel mind games and ultimately violence.

Director Paul Schrader recently admitted to Film Comment magazine that it was all about "tardiness, tantrums, absences, neediness, psychodrama" when working with Lohan, whom he compared to the late Marilyn Monroe.

Even so, it all was worth it. He said, "All the drama, the mishegas, all the stress, that means little. A director can shoot around misbehavior. He can't shoot around lack of charisma. I just wish it was easier for Lindsay."

Before hitting theaters on August 2, "The Canyons" will be premiered on July 20 at New York's Film Society of Lincoln Center.
