Nick says he has been engaged to the daughter of Whitney Houston for a year and claims the late singer, who unofficially adopted him when he was teen, approved of their relationship.

AceShowbiz - It's official, Bobbi Kristina Brown is engaged to marry her unofficial adoptive brother Nick Gordon. The only daughter of late Whitney Houston announces the news on her Facebook. While doing so, she tells critics to back off saying she has had enough of their judgmental comments.
"YES, we me nick are engaged. I'm tired of hearing people say 'eww your engaged to your brother or if Whitney was still alive would we be together or would she approve of this,' " she began. "Let me clear up something, we aren't even real brother and sister nor is he my adoptive brother. My mom never adopted him. In fact, mommy was the one who even said that she knew that we were going to start dating. My mom knows me better than any of you."
"A lot of yall are saying that yall are only saying this all out of love. Which is bull because if that was so, all you would want is for me to be happy. People need to seriously stop judging my relationship. Pretty sure it's my own decision who I want to be with," she added.
"Yes, my relationship may not be perfect. We will have rough patches, just like every other relationship. And we have had our rough patches. You may or may not agree with my relationship. You may or may not respect it. Judge me, go ahead. Your opinions are yours and mine are mine. It is my life and not yours. The decisions I make have nothing to do with you. Goodnight."
On his part, Nick opened up that they have been engaged for a year, "I appreciate everything you guys do and say. Krissi and I have been engaged for a year though some ppl are acting like this is new info." He also addressed criticisms about their relationship, "Let's get some facts straight. I'm 24. I moved in when I was 16. Her mother [Whitney] told me to call her Mom."
"To everybodys surprise she wanted Krissi and I married. She took me in as a son and treated me as such. Rip. not explaining. Just a brother getting sick of everybody having the wrong info," he went on. "Look we don't care about any of that negative ppl talk. When your love is like ours! We are in our own little world. No one nor nothing can bring us down or break us. We are young but we have been through it!!"
Bobbi and Nick got close after Whitney passed away early this year. "We're just close -- just going through her mom's passing and grieving together," he once explained. They first sparked engagement rumor when she was spotted wearing a large diamond ring during a PDA-filled outing. They denied it back then.
The couple never officially confirmed that they were romantically involved, but they were never shy to show off their affection to each other in numerous occasions. In an episode of the family's reality show on Lifetime, "The Houstons: On Our Own", family members expressed their disapproval as Patricia Houston told Nick, "No one knew that from a godson you would turn into a boyfriend. No one knew that."
Nick was aware of the family's reluctance to approve of his relationship with Bobbi. "The family has me out to be a bad person," he once said, but he and Bobbi were determined to prove them wrong.
