Conley, who played storekeeper Ike Godsey on CBS' family drama 'The Waltons', passes away at the age of 85 at a care facility in Newbury Park.

AceShowbiz - Actor Joe Conley, who is most popular for his role as Ike Godsey on CBS' family drama "The Waltons" in 1970s, has passed away. His wife Louise told Los Angeles Times that the actor died at a care facility in Newbury Park on Sunday, July 7, at the age of 85. He had dementia. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children.
Mary McDonough, who played Erin Walton on the TV series, also announced her co-star's passing. "It is a sad day. So sorry to let you know Joe Conley, our beloved Ike Godsey, passed early this morning, please keep him, wife Louise, and his family in your prayers. RIP Mr. Godsey," she wrote on Facebook.
Actress Ronnie Claire Edwards, who played Corabeth, mourned his passing on Facebook, writing, "It was one of the greatest pleasures of my television career to play Corabeth opposite Joe because he made me so much better. I share all of your grief and appreciate your many condolences. He will be greatly missed but, thankfully, we may enjoy his work for years to come in the many reruns of 'The Waltons'."
Conley was born in Buffalo, New York. He ran real-estate companies while pursuing his dream in acting. After "The Waltons" ended in 1981, Conley continued managing his business.
He also made appearances in "Waltons" reunion movies and small roles in other titles, such as 1982's TV series "Knight Rider" and Tom Hanks' "Cast Away". In an interview for The-Waltons.com, Conley said that his role as Ike Godsey left deep impression to many people.
"To millions of people I am Ike Godsey. People walk up and just call me Ike and carry on a conversation like we are old friends. I have to remember that for ten years I did visit their home every week. To them I am an old friend or a member of the family," he said.
