AceShowbiz - Roc Nation mogul Jay-Z adds another milestone to his illustrious music career by getting his 12th platinum album award via his just released "Magna Carta... Holy Grail", which easily sold one million copies via the clever Samsung Galaxy device app deal. The 43-year-old rap superstar was presented with the plaque by the Recording Industry Association of America.
The recognition came not without some egging from Jay-Z himself, who via several tweets, expressed his logic on why his new album should be declared platinum even before it actually hits stores. Just before it was set to make its debut, the RIAA changed its ruling requiring albums to be released at least 30 days before being certified either gold or platinum, resulting in Jay-Z's latest game-changing achievement.
With the RIAA tweaking their certification policy, it seems Hov has indeed "written the new rules" as he himself said in one of his previously released "MCHG" promo clips. However, Nielsen Soundscan, first contending that the 1 million Samsung downloads would not be counted as official Billboard chart sales, maintained their contention that they would count actual records bought by consumers, estimated to run to almost 400,000 copies in its first week.
The expected No. 1 debut of "MCHG" outclasses his close friend Kanye West's controversial album "Yeezus" and further solidifies Jay-Z's streak as the solo act with the most No. 1 albums in history, although not enough to topple another pal Justin Timberlake who set the highest-selling debut this year.
