AceShowbiz - Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood were among other performers at Toby Keith's Oklahoma Twister Relief, which was held at the University of Oklahoma on Saturday, July 6. The star-studded concert kicked off with Keith's daughter, Krystal Keith, singing the national anthem in front of more than 60,000 people who packed the venue.
"The healing starts today. It's time to smile," Oklahoma native Brooks told the crowd before rocking the stage to perform some of his hits, including "Friends in Low Places", "Papa Loved Mama", "The Thunder Rolls" and "Callin' Baton Rouge". He was then joined by wife Trisha Yearwood onstage to sing their collaboration, "In Another's Eyes".
Yearwood also performed a few of her own solo hits like "She's in Love with the Boy" and "How Do I Live". Sammy Hagar, Ronnie Dunn, Willie Nelson, Mel Tillis, John Anderson and Wade Hayes were other artists who entertained the crowd at the concert. "Toby Keith gets my vote for man of the year," Hagar said as he closed his set with a song called "Eagles Fly".
Doing her brief set via satellite from Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Carrie Underwood performed her hit ballads, "Jesus Take the Wheel", "See You Again" and "Before He Cheats". "I'd like to say a special hello," she said. "I love you and miss you to my home state of Oklahoma."
The concert was organized by Keith, who grew up in Moore, Oklahoma. It closed with Keith taking the stage to sing some of his hits like "Made in America", "Who's Your Daddy?", "I Love This Bar", "Should've Been a Cowboy" and "Ain't as Good as I Once Was." His daughter returned to the stage to join him for a rendition of his new song, "Get Your Redneck On".
"I wanna thank everyone for coming out and participating here today," he said. "I got to watch some of the greatest football growing up here in my life... That was, like, fourteen hundred and fifty-two beers ago." He then did the red-cup salute to the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, reserves, Oklahoma National Guard, first responders, storm survivors and Oklahomans everywhere. "Cheers!" he yelled.
