Fun. to Record New Album 'at the Beginning of Next Year'

Before hitting the studio to work on the follow-up to 2012's 'Some Nights', Nate Ruess, Andrew Dost and Jack Antonoff will be on tour throughout the rest of the summer.

AceShowbiz - Fun. has revealed that they may return to the studio early next year. In an interview with Billboard, Nate Ruess, Andrew Dost and Jack Antonoff said that their new album would drop as quick as its predecessor, 2012's "Some Nights".

"There's, like, hints of a game plan," guitarist Antonoff said. "The way we work is pretty spontaneous and pretty quick. 'Some Nights' was written and recorded in a two-month time period, and I think that's one of the elements that made it successful as an album.

"It should be a documentation of a band in a moment, not a giant, three-year process. So the next album will be the same thing," he continued. Antonoff went on saying that his band might hit the studio early in 2014 if they felt they had the good materials to be included in the album.

"I assume some time at the beginning of next year we'd like to be in the studio, but that all depends on when the feeling hits and when we have a concept that's worthy," he said. "Until we have the parameters of what the album really is it's hard to hone in on them and work specifically on it, and we're not there yet."

Antonoff added that his band's success with some singles off "Some Nights" album would likely influence the writing process for the next album.

Fun. will be launching their new North American tour on July 6 with folk band Tegan and Sara. The 26-city tour will last through the summer before ending on September 26. Antonoff said that the tour would be "equal parts victory lap and a bridge to the next record."
