Netflix Lands Exclusive Rights to Stream 'New Girl'

The Zooey Deschanel-starring sitcom is available on the Internet streaming media starting July 1.

AceShowbiz - "New Girl" is coming to Netflix. The company has entered into an exclusive multi-year streaming deal to broadcast the FOX sitcom with the first season available starting on July 1. Subsequent seasons of the show will be available immediately after the broadcast season is complete, marking one of the earliest arrivals of a television series on Netflix.

" 'New Girl' has proven to be the biggest breakout sitcom hit of the season and we are thrilled to be able offer it so quickly to our U.S. subscribers," Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos said in a statement released on Monday. "We know our members love comedies and that they'll enjoy watching all the current and future episodes of 'New Girl' whenever and wherever they want."

Gina Brogi, Executive Vice President of Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution, added, "We are delighted that Netflix viewers will now have the opportunity to enjoy this remarkable comedy. As a leader in digital distribution, Netflix is an important partner for us. We are thrilled to continue building our relationship with them."

"New Girl" starring Zooey Deschanel wrapped up its second season in May and has been renewed for a third season, which will premiere this fall.
