BET Awards Is Highest-Rated Telecast on Cable This Year

Averaging 4.7 million households, the June 30 special becomes the second highest-rated BET Awards show of all time.

AceShowbiz - The 2013 BET Awards is cable's No. 1 award show among adults 18-49 this year, according to the network. Boosted by the perfomances from star-studded line-up which included the likes of Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey and Robin Thicke, the telecast drew a total of 7.6 million viewers.

In households, the Sunday, June 30 show averaged 4.7 million viewers, marking the second highest-rated BET telecast of all time. It only places behind the 2009 edition which featured a tribute to Michael Jackson, who died three days before the annual event took place.

The live telecast also dominated the digital and social media world, accounting for 51|percent| of all social chatter with nearly ten million tweets. The show additionally broke an all-time single day record for BET.com, with daily unique visitors up 39|percent| from last year's show, page views increasing by 43|percent|, and video views up 142|percent| from last year's day of show.

The 2013 BET Awards honored Charlie Wilson with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Justin Timberlake, Pharrell Williams, Snoop Dogg and more paid tribute to the former lead vocalist of The Gap Band with musical performances.
