The veteran rockers play their hits 'Jumpin' Jack Flash', 'Satisfaction' and the new 'Glastonbury Girl'.

AceShowbiz - People would expect that by now, legendary British rockers The Rolling Stones would have already played at Britain's most prestigious music event, the Glastonbury Festival. But it took forty-three years since its first staging for Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and the rest of the band to finally perform on the Pyramid Stage, headlining the Saturday show with Elvis Costello and Primal Scream.

After kicking off their set with "Jumpin' Jack Flash", the Stones entertained the crowd with a slew of their classic hits "It's Only Rock 'n' Roll (But I Like It)", "Paint it Black", "Wild Horses", "Gimme Shelter" and "Sympathy for the Devil". They also played a new song specially written for their debut appearance at the festival aptly titled "Glastonbury Girl" before eventually performing "Satisfaction" for the encore.

It was a special moment to see the Stones finally playing Glastonbury, considering they turned down offers to participate in the event for years, held in the fields of the Pilton Farms in Somerset, South West England. Richards felt it was "destined" as saying, "I look upon it as a culmination of our British heritage really. It had to be done."

Prior to their Glastonbury gig, the Rolling Stones came off a successful string of performances across North America in their "50 and Counting" tour. They will next play two concerts at London's Hyde Park next month. Last week, the band signed a publishing deal with German company Bertelsmann Music Group to represent their extensive catalog.
