The Walt Disney animation returns as No. 1 weekend flick, with the Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy comedy taking the second spot in its debut.

AceShowbiz - "Monsters University" retains the North American box office throne. The Billy Crystal-starring movie about the college life of Mike Wazowski and Suley Sullivan nabs $45.6 million in its second run for Walt Disney Pictures, a 44|percent| drop from last weekend's opening.

Paul Feig-directed "The Heat" lands at No. 2 in its first week with $39.1 million and an "A-" CinemaScore. "The marketing for 'The Heat' has done a terrific job in emphasizing the movie's greatest appeal: the incessant and often hilarious banter between Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy," says Dave Karger of movie ticket retailer Fandango.com to USA Today.

Sony Pictures' "White House Down", meanwhile, debuts to $24.9 million in the fourth place. Despite the disappointing result, the action-heavy movie starring Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx is awarded a good "A-" CinemaScore, suggesting that it will still play well over the next few weeks.

"World War Z", a starring vehicle for Brad Pitt, drops 55|percent| to $29.8 million in its second outing, taking the third spot. Rounding up the top five is Henry Cavill's "Man of Steel", which takes in another $20.7 million for Warner Bros.
