Bell writes to her fiance, 'Dax Shepard, will you marry me? #marriageequality #loveislove,' after the Supreme Court ruled that the Defense of Marriage Act was unconstitutional.

AceShowbiz - Kristen Bell proposed to her fiance for almost three years, Dax Shepard, asking if he would marry her after the Supreme Court deemed the Defense of Marriage Act unconstitutional. The "House of Lies" star delightfully welcomed the news and tweeted to her beau, "@daxshepard1 will you marry me? Xo #marriageequality #loveislove."

A representative for the actress said in a statement, "They have been engaged for 2 1/2 years and have been waiting for this day so they can officially wed. They are beyond thrilled for their friends in the gay community." The "Parenthood" actor later said yes to Bell's proposal.

The cute couple, who welcomed a child in March, has been delaying their wedding until same-sex couples enjoy rights to marriage equality. Bell told The Advocate in 2012, "The reason we're not rushing to get married is because I don't feel appropriate taking advantage of a right that's denied to my [gay and lesbian] friends. That's why we've been so hesitant. Dax and I have talked about it a lot, and this issue is very important to both of us. We're just standing up for what we believe in. Period."

Bell showed support to marriage equality in her Twitter posts. One of them read, "You're damn right DOMA is unconstitutional!! #equalitymatters." Other celebrity supporters of marriage equality reacted on Twitter following the demise of the Defense of Marriage Act on Wednesday, June 26.

"Big news from the Supreme Court. Goodbye #DOMA #Prop8. Hello #equality," Ben Affleck wrote. Adam Lambert added, "Down w DOMA! Something to be very proud of this upcoming July 4th. We are making beautiful progress for Equality! #proud," while Alicia Keys tweeted, "I am standing on the right side of history. I stand with @HRC for marriage equality."
