AceShowbiz - An unaired "Saturday Night Live" sketch starring Justin Bieber has just been released online. Written for the February episode hosted by the Canadian pop singer, the skit fell flat during the show's dress rehearsal and did not make it to the final cut.
The clip featured Bill Hader and Bieber as father-son musicians who served a musical act on "The Steve Harvey Show". Hader was the vocalist with Bieber on the keyboard, Fred Armisen on the drums and Bobby Moynihan playing a Dr. Seuss instrument.
At one point, a prop wall almost fell on the "Baby" hitmaker. "Oh, stage almost fell on you, son; that would've sucked," Hader said in character, trying to play it off, to which Bieber replied, "That's not part of it."
Explaining what happened behind the scenes, Hader said in the video's commentary that five guys ran over to grab the wall at that time. He added Bieber was "really scared right there, that's true fear." Hader also said he asked the stage manager if they're going to stop "because the set almost fell on our host," but she said to keep going.
"OK, so this sketch could be described as a train wreck!" Hader commented on the failed sketch. He then explained which part of it that went wrong, "The audience right now is filled with pre-pubescent girls. This is not the crowd for this. It's just all Justin Bieber fans. ...I'm just looking at young girls looking at me wondering 'When is Justin going to do something? Is this really about this old man?' "
He and writers Rob Klein and John Solomon additionally pointed out that the skit "killed" during the table read, but it bombed during the dress rehearsal. Still, they said they treasured it and were glad that Bieber was part of it.
