The concert-style play, featuring critically acclaimed performance by Mary Bridget Davies as Joplin, will open on October 10 at the Lyceum Theatre.

AceShowbiz - "A Night With Janis Joplin" is coming to Broadway. The tribute show starring Mary Bridget Davies as the psychedelic rock legend, who died at the age of 27 due to an overdose of heroin, will go for a Broadway run, with previews scheduled to begin on September 20 and official opening set for October 10 at the Lyceum Theatre.

The show previously went by the name of "One Night With Janis Joplin". Written and directed by Randy Johnson, the musical is supported by an eight-piece band and a trio of backup singers, featuring Joplin's hits such as "Piece of My Heart", "Mercedes Benz", "Me and Bobby McGee", "Ball and Chain" and "Summertime".

Since its premiere in 2011 at Portland Center Stage in Oregon, the production has been showcased in several cities, including Cleveland and Pasadena. LA Times wrote positive review for the play: "In a cosmic collusion of persona and perception, this electrifying concert musical resurrects the Queen of Rock 'n' Roll with the sort of seismically sensational results normally encountered at stadiums and pop festivals."

The Broadway musical is produced by Todd Gershwin and Daniel Chilewich, in association with the Janis Joplin estate and Jeffrey Jampol for JAM, Inc.
