Macklemore and Ryan Lewis' 'Thrift Shop' Gets Scrubbed Clean on Kidz Bop Kids
Music

The newest compilation album features the rap duo's hit but with the profanities creatively replaced with other words.

AceShowbiz - As expected, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' chart-topping track "Thrift Shop" off album "The Heist" makes it to the latest Kidz Bop Kids album, its 24th edition which debuts next month. Like most of the other current hit songs in the compilation, it gets scrubbed clean of profanities to make it more appropriate for its target audience, the original NSFW lyrics replaced with more kid-friendly ones.

The result is quite cleverly creative and oftentimes funny and amusing, like when "f*cking awesome" was turned to "really awesome" and "walk up to the club like, 'What up? I got a big c--k!' " was substituted with "I got a hit song!" The "cold a** honkey" in the line "Ice on the fringe, it's so damn frosty / That people like, 'Damn! That's a ...' " cunningly becomes "guy on the marquee."

Even the mature innuendos as "probably shoulda washed this, smells like R. Kelly's sheets" were tamed down to "smells like my baseball cleats." While to Macklemore "fifty dollars for a T-shirt" is "just some ignorant b*tch sh*t," on Kidz Bop it's "just silly overpriced."

Besides "Thrift Shop", other tracks on "Kidz Bop 24" that needed a do-over includes Justin Bieber's "Beauty and a Beat" featuring Nicki Minaj and Icona Pop's "I Love It", which has some pretty vicious lyrics. Not all tracks needed censorship though, specifically the two Taylor Swift tracks that made it to the album, "I Knew You Were Trouble" and "22".
