The Leslie Rogers of 'Parker' will also team up with Martin Sheen and Rodrigo Santoro in the film from director Patricia Riggen.

AceShowbiz - After getting Antonio Banderas attached, director Patricia Riggen has nabbed another A-list star for her upcoming film "The 33", which is based on a real-life mining accident in Chile in 2010. The Hollywood Reporter learns that singer and actress Jennifer Lopez is now officially on board for an unspecified role.

Banderas has been secured to play Mario Sepulveda, a charismatic miner known as "Super Mario", since last month. Also included in the cast ensemble are Martin Sheen, who takes on the role as a miner's father, and Brazilian actor Rodrigo Santoro, who is cast as a trapped miner. The gig will reunite Santoro with Lopez after co-starring in "What to Expect When You're Expecting".

Riggen, who directed Eva Mendes in 2012's "Girl in Progress", will join forces with scribes Mikko Alanne and Jose Rivera. The movie, which will be executive produced by Chilean entrepreneurs Carlos Eugenio Lavin and Leopoldo Enriquez, is slated to start its production in the fall in Chile.

Lopez has recently starred in action crime "Parker" alongside Jason Statham. In the Taylor Hackford-directed feature, she played Leslie Rodgers, a depressed, unsuccessful real-estate agent living who is struggling financially after a divorce. Though the film got negative reviews from film critics, the 43-year-old star was praised for her performance.
