The Biebs got the most fan votes and bested other top Canadian acts Drake, Carly Rae Jepsen, and more for the title.

AceShowbiz - Despite the constant negative publicity that surrounds him and recent multiple controversies that hound his career, pop heartthrob Justin Bieber continues to win the hearts of his fellow Canadians. The "Believe" artist got the most fan votes and bested other nominees for the Fave Artist/Group prize at the 2013 MuchMusic Video Awards that took place on June 16 in Toronto, Canada.

Bieber edged other top contenders for the award which included the night's rare double-winners Drake, who won the Director of the Year and Hip-Hop Video of the Year honors for "Started from the Bottom", and Marianas Trench, who bagged the Fave Video and Pop Video of the Year for "Desperate Measures". Another top Canadian act who was beaten out by the massive popularity of The Biebs but was likewise a winner in another category was Deadmau5 who nabbed Dance Video of the Year for "The Veldt" featuring Chris James.

The Ferrari-driving Bieber also handily won over another pop superstar, Carly Rae Jepsen, who got nominations in two other categories where Bieber was also nominated. However, both of them lost out to Macklemore & Ryan Lewis in the International Video of the Year by a Canadian category. Despite the fan-fueled achievement, Bieber was unfortunately a no-show at the awards ceremony.

In contrast, present to receive her award for Fave International Artist or Group was country-pop superstar Taylor Swift who was fortunately in Toronto at the time of the MuchMusic Awards for her "Red" album tour. Other winners in the PSY-hosted event were Demi Lovato, who won the International Video of the Year for "Heart Attack" and Avril Lavigne who won for the same award among Canadian artists for "Here's to Never Growing Up".
