Eddie Redmayne to Play Stephen Hawking in 'Theory of Everything'

The 'My Week with Marilyn' actor will reportedly be directed by 'Man on Wire' helmer James Marsh.

AceShowbiz - Eddie Redmayne could land a major role in his next project. According to Deadline, the Marius Pontmercy of "Les Miserables" is attached to resurrect famous physicist, Stephen Hawking, in a movie called "The Theory of Everything".

The Working Title-produced film reportedly has Oscar winner James Marsh as director. Marsh, who won Best Documentary Feature in 2008 for his work "Man on Wire", will team up with Anthony McCarten who is tapped to write the script.

The movie is expected to revolve around Hawking's relationship with his wife. Option to cast the leading lady is still being explored.

A 2011 BAFTA Rising Star nominee, Redmayne gained recognition for his role as Marilyn Monroe's rumored squeeze, filmmaker Colin Clark, opposite Michelle Williams in "My Week with Marilyn". He is currently filming "Jupiter Ascending".

The 31-year-old actor is reportedly also approached to star with Carey Mulligan and Matthias Schoenaerts in the Thomas Vinterberg-directed flick "Far From the Madding Crowd".
