Holliday Grainger of 'The Borgias' Is Mean Stepsister of 'Cinderella'
Movie

The Lucrezia Borgia depicter will act opposite leading actress Lily James of 'Downton Abbey' in the upcoming live-action film from Kenneth Branagh.

AceShowbiz - "Cinderella" has found its stepsister. As The Wrap learns, Holliday Grainger, who's best known for her roles as Lucrezia Borgia on "The Borgias" and Estella in "Great Expectations", is officially introduced as the beautiful yet mean relative of Lily James' titular character in the upcoming project directed by "Thor" helmer Kenneth Branagh.

In the live-action movie, 25-year-old Grainger will have Award-winning actress Cate Blanchett as her mother, who treats Cinderella badly. Richard Madden of "Game of Thrones", meanwhile, has been tapped to play the charming prince that falls in love with the orphaned protagonist.

Branagh will direct it based on the script provided by scribe Aline Brosh McKenna of "The Devil Wears Prada". Simon Kinberg, who is working to write a stand-alone "Star Wars" spin-off film, comes aboard to serve as co-producer alongside Allison Shearmur and David Barron.

The new take on the classic fairytale was initially set with Emma Watson as Cinderella and Mark Romanek as the helmer. However, the Hermione Granger depicter in "Harry Potter" films decided to depart from the project with Romanek walking out of it too later due to creative differences.

"Cinderella" is reportedly due out next year.
