Brockovich insists that she did not operate the boat on the open water, but she apologizes, saying, 'This was clearly a big mistake, I know better and I am very sorry.'

AceShowbiz - Erin Brockovich, an activist and legal advocate who was depicted in Julia Roberts' movie "Erin Brockovich", apologized in a statement issued on Sunday, June 9, after she was arrested for allegedly driving a boat when intoxicated. In the statement, Brockovich said that she was not operating the boat on open water and insisted that "there was no public safety risk."
USA Today reported that Brockovich was with a male friend at that time. "That being said. I take drunk driving very seriously. This was clearly a big mistake, I know better and I am very sorry. After a day in the sun and with nothing to eat, it appears that a couple of drinks had a greater impact than I had realized," she said in the statement.
Brockovich was brought into custody on Friday, June 7 at 10:15 P.M. According to Nevada Department of Wildlife's Edwin Lyngar, a game warden saw the environmental activist "struggling to dock her boat." She was ordered to take a field sobriety test after the warden noticed that she had signs of being intoxicated, such as slurred speech.
According to Associated Press, alcohol in her blood was twice the legal limit of .08. She was put under custody and released later on $1,000 bond. "Too many people think drinking and boating go together. We don't have a problem if people drink. Just have a designated operator," Lyngar said.
